Asleep plate

£220.00

19cm x 19cm wide.

High fired and functional. Wash by hand.

This handmade porcelain plate has a story to tell. It is hand drawn and etched into the clay, illustrated with a sketchbook observation of a friend asleep in the living room. Something we can all recall.

Gail combines coloured line etching and inlay, called Mishima, by the Japanese, also sgraffito, or scratched lines to reveal the background colour and thin colour wash painting in the decoration. This Porcelain People series is hand built from slabs rather than the potter’s wheel.

It carriers the maker’s mark, a ceramic stamp as the signature.

This hand decorated porcelain plate can be used ornamentally as a centrepiece, or as a wall decoration, thanks to the wall hanging disc on the back. For cleaning, we recommend using a microfibre cloth and a neutral or mild detergent.
