Narrative porcelain vessels exploring everyday life and human relationships

Porcelain Narrative Display Plates

Unique handmade, painted porcelain plates inspired by facial expressions and relationships.

It begins with a drawing from my sketchbook and an idea to explore.

The unfired porcelain is porous and smooth. It is the perfect surface to paint onto, score or etch into and sgrafitto through, before the bisque firing.

After a transparent glaze is added and it is fired to 1220’c.

The plates have a wall hanging disc attached on the back or are displayed on a plate stand.

The themes include; Facial expressions, Zoom Meetings, Dog Walkers, Musicians and Siblings.

Photographs above by Bill Mudge, Mike Coles, Richard Kalini and TAS.
