Commissions

I have done a number of interesting commissions for special birthday celebrations, for much loved individuals.

The brief often includes sharing a few photographs and some ideas about what the person loves or is inspired by.

One involved a much loved cat and a dove , another a large bunch of flowers, two dogs and some rainbows.

The ideas are researched, sketched and worked out first on paper, with watercolour and then with the Ipad using the procreate app or program.

Later the drawings are transferred onto the porcelain hand-built vessels.

These drawings are scored into the porcelain with a sharp pin tool, etched and filled as an inlay layer with coloured underglaze.

Bisque fired to 1000’c and a final glaze firing is done using transparent glaze, taking the temperature up to 1220’c.
